How to protect file uploads through ACF Repeater Field

Requirements:

This guide will help you automatically protect your media files uploaded through ACF Repeater fields by two ways below:

  1. Auto-protect all selected files
  2. Auto-protect new file uploads

Please note that this feature only supports File and Image Type.

1. Auto-protect all selected files

Step 1: Go to PDA Gold Settings Page and switch to Forms & ACF tab.

Step 2: Enable Advanced Custom Fields – Repeater File & Image Fields option.

Step 3: Go to the page or post where your custom field is added on and click on “Add File” (or “Add Image”) button.

Step 4: Add new or select existing files to your repeater field and then click Publish or Update your post.

Only selected files through Repeater Field will be protected by our plugin. If you choose a file through a File Field or Image Field outside of the repeater field, for example, nothing happens.

Besides, all selected files will be protected once you publish or update the post. So if you select an unprotected file by accident, it will become protected after the post is updated. To prevent such cases, we provide additional options that allow you to show protected files only and auto-protect all new file uploads.

2. Auto-protect new file uploads

Step 1: Create a Custom Field and choose Repeater type.

Step 2: Enable Auto-protect New File Uploads option of our plugin.

Step 3: Go to the page or post where your Custom Field is added on and click on “Add File” (or “Add Image”) button.

Step 4: Add new files to your post and as you can notice, these files will auto-protected once uploaded.

* Please note that all files protected via ACF follow the default (global) File Access Permission set on our PDA Gold settings page.
